Probate Administration in Alamo

When you are handling an estate, begin by establishing what has already happened and who is authorized to act. Dale Law Group, PLLC, offers probate administration services to Tennessee clients. For an Alamo matter, a clear record of filings, documents and unresolved ownership questions can help focus the next conversation.

Start with the status of the estate

First distinguish an estate with an existing court filing from one where no filing has yet been identified. If a case or other estate-related filing exists, gather its name, any case number, copies of filed papers and notices, and the dates you received them. If you have not found a filing, record where you looked and what remains uncertain; that alone does not establish whether a proceeding is necessary.

Then separate the question of a filing from the question of who can act. A will, a power of attorney, a court appointment and a trust are different things. A power of attorney authorizes someone to act on another person’s behalf, but its scope, duration and limits matter. Do not assume that possession of a document, family relationship or role in one arrangement establishes authority for every estate task.

    Create an estate action log

Use one dated list to keep facts, documents and follow-up questions together. For each item, note what happened, who was involved, where the record or original document is kept, and what needs confirmation. Mark unknowns plainly instead of filling gaps with assumptions. This can help you distinguish an immediate question—such as identifying an existing filing—from a later question about property, expenses or administration decisions.

    • Filings and notices: court or office named, case number if shown, document title, date received, and any response or follow-up noted on the document.
    • Originals and copies: will or trust documents, death-related records you have, financial statements, property records and correspondence; note the custodian and whether you have an original or copy.
    • Ownership and activity: list each asset or account under the name shown on the record, any co-owner or beneficiary information you can verify, and transactions or bills that need review. Do not treat a recorded document as proof that title is clear.
    • Authority: identify the person named in each relevant document and the role it describes. Keep an agent under a power of attorney, a trustee and a court-appointed guardian or conservator distinct; note what authority is unclear.

Confirm the right local contact for the question

UT CTAS lists a Crockett County Clerk & Master contact and separately lists a Circuit Court Clerk. The offices are not interchangeable, and those listings alone do not establish the correct venue, required filing or whether a proceeding is needed. If you need current office information, confirm which office can address the specific record or procedural question before relying on a contact listing.

For a land-record contact, UT CTAS separately lists the Crockett County Register of Deeds at 1 South Bells Street, Suite 2, Alamo. The address may be a mailing or contact address; confirm before visiting. A directory listing or recorded document does not determine ownership or which transfer or court procedure is appropriate.

Prepare for a focused next step

Bring or organize the action log, available filings, relevant originals or copies, and records that show how property is titled. Ask: Has an estate-related filing already been made, and what does it cover? Which office can confirm the record I am trying to locate? Who has authority to take each proposed action, and what document supports that authority? Which ownership questions require further investigation before decisions are made?

Dale Law Group, PLLC, has its office in Murfreesboro and serves Tennessee. Contact the firm to discuss probate administration and the facts of the estate. The next step depends on the documents and circumstances; a contact directory cannot answer whether a particular proceeding is required.

Questions to bring to the discussion

Does a Clerk & Master listing tell me where an estate must be filed?

No. The Crockett County contact listing identifies an office role, but it does not establish the correct venue or required filing. Confirm current office information and have the estate’s circumstances assessed.

Can a power of attorney authorize someone to handle every estate matter?

Not necessarily. Its scope, duration and limits matter, and that role is distinct from a trustee or court-appointed representative. Review the actual document and clarify the authority it provides before acting.
